Kirby Commission

We are pleased to announce that in December of ’05 the federal Cabinet approved the formation of a Canadian Mental Health Commission, as recommended by Senator Michael Kirby’s Senate Social Affairs Committee.

ADAC/ACTA made representation to his Committee and we are pleased to see that the Commission will become active in the near future. The significance of this Commission is that mental health in Canada has always received less attention by governments than physical health. This is a step in the right direction and ADAC/ACTA hopes the new Commission will show leadership in addressing the service gap faced by Canadians with an anxiety disorder.
